The Brush-footed family of butterflies gets its name from its front legs. They are shorter than the other four legs and not used to walk or stand. These front legs do not have feet but instead possess little brushes of hairs that the butterflies can use to smell and taste with. This is the largest group of butterflies with some 6000 world wide. They can be further sub-divided into Admirals and Relatives, Emperors, Monarchs, Fritillaries and Heliconians, Snouts, Leafwings, Satyrs, Morphos, Clearwings and True Brush-foots.
